Becoming the Biking Burketts tells the story of a fictional family and their struggles, seen through the eyes of young Daniel.

The family is falling apart because the father drinks heavily. Things get even worse when he injures Daniel's best friend in a drink-driving accident, leading to his imprisonment.

Despite these difficult themes, the story is filled with hope as the family begins to heal their broken relationships. They find comfort in their faith and start enjoying cycling together, exploring nearby green spaces like Crosby Coast, Rimrose Valley, and the canal.
