About Jean
I am a retired general medical practitioner, having worked in the UK and overseas, and am a licensed lay minister (emeritus) in the Anglican Church. I currently worship with my husband in a United Free Church. I have three children and five grandchildren.
I enjoy spending time with my family, and love gardening and walking in the countryside, never ceasing to marvel at the beauty of creation.
The wonder of creation, the needs and problems faced by broken humanity, and the hope offered by the Christian faith, challenge and inform my life, my thinking and my writing.
I belong to a local poetry group and a writing group, and write short poems, mainly in free verse. I also write occasional short stories.
Since retirement, I have written three published books. They are very different, but each book challenges some aspect of popular thinking.
The Judge is the Savior challenges the widespread belief that those who do not accept the saving grace offered by Jesus Christ will be destined for final destruction or punishment forever in some sort of hell. However, the Bible can be rightly understood to teach that Jesus Christ will in the end save everybody.
The Real Story challenges the commercialisation of Christmas, and the myth of Father Christmas too often takes centre stage. I wanted to write a story about a child finding out that the season centres on the birth of Jesus into the world.
My most recent book, Becoming the Biking Burketts, challenges the widespread assumption that (for adults at least) it is necessary to drink alcohol if you want to have fun.

And I am hoping to write a sequel. Watch this space!
